In this lecture, the screening of his two short films \u201cSlope\u201d (2018) and \u201cPenumbria\u201d (2016) will serve as the point of departure for a reflection on the definition and representation of \u201cends of earth\u201d and other remote places.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Eduardo Brito<\/strong>\u00a0works on photography, film and writing. He holds a Master\u2019s degree in Artistic, Museological and Curatorial Studies from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto with a dissertation entitled \u201cClaro Obscuro \u2013 Representations of the Museum in Fiction Film\u201d. Eduardo is an assistant professor at this faculty and a researcher at I2ADS. Between writing, photography and film, Eduardo\u2019s work explores the connections between truth, fiction and memory, as well the relation of text to image. Example of these are his books \u201cEast Ending\u201d (2017) and \u201cThe Orcadians\u201d (2014), and the photography series \u201c5 p.m. Hotel de la Gloria\u201d (with Rui Hermenegildo, 2015), \u201cUn Samedi Sur Terre\u201d (2017) and \u201cStories with no Return\u201d (2018). Eduardo also directed the short films \u201cPenumbria\u201d (2016) and \u201cSlope\u201d (2018), co-wrote with Rodrigo Areias the feature film \u201cBlue Breath\u201d (2018) and wrote the short films \u201cThe Scoundrel\u201d (Paulo Abreu, 2012), \u201cThe Glory of Filmmaking in Portugal\u201d (Manuel Mozos, 2015), \u201cCatherine or 1786\u201d (Francisca Manuel, 2017) and \u201cThe Everlasting Man\u201d (Lu\u00eds Costa, 2017).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>IAM Open Lecture #27 Eduardo Brito See and Tell.
