Danelle Briscoe is an architectural designer who received her Master of Architecture studies at Yale University. Her thirty years of work experience includes lead design and project management at Gehry Partners, LLP, Marmol+ Radziner LLP and Centerbrook Architects. She has independently exhibited work in Axis Gallery, Tokyo, 2004 ICFF in New York, the MAK Center in Los Angeles and Objectspace in Auckland. She lives in Austin, Texas and works as an independent practitioner and academic. She holds a position of Associate Professor and Graduate Adviser at the University of Texas at Austin, where she is primarily engaged in research of building information modelling as it applies to ecology and digital fabrication.
This lecture will broadly consider the debate of Architecture versus Building in the ever-increasing application of Building Information Modeling or BIM. As author of the 2016 publication, Beyond BIM: Architecture Information Modeling, instances of theoretical and practical applications interrogate the future domain and range of BIM as a platform. In addition, more recent research reveals two scales of design and execution to do with architectural ecology and multi-modal transportation networks.
