Fold Your Space
Poster-> [x]
Folding is everywhere and almost anything either is folded or can be folded in some sense.
In the workshop we will start with the examples of art and science of folding in application. We will review, highlights of foldable structures and origami-inspired designs from art and architecture to technology, engineering and industry. Then we need to understand the geometry of folding. Therefore, we will see some basic and fundamental notions and rules of folding and we do some experiments with the paper. Futhermore, we start to work with the grasshopper plugin and other related scripts. You will gain the knowledge about some special types of surfaces and meshes and how the plugin works. After finishing some tasks withe the plugin, we will prepare digital models for fabrication. Using different materials and CNC cutting machines we will bring digital models to life!

First we learn about some special types of surfaces and meshes and how the plugin works. After finishing some tasks withe the plugin, we can start to design new digital models together and by using materials and machines we will bring them to life!
To understand geometry of folding and utilize this knowledge to design digital foldable objects. Practicing computational methods. Hands-on experience with foldable models.
