Seminar for PHD students (Doctoral School for Architecture)

The seminar is offered as an annual course and is held in the form of a symposium. All doctoral candidates must attend at least twice during their doctoral studies. All members of the Doctoral School are invited to attend as audience members. Each doctoral candidate presents his/her research project within the first year as well as his/her research achievements towards the end of his/her doctoral studies. The seminar will be chaired by a professor of the Doctoral School on a rotational basis. In this academic year, the seminar will be merged with the full-day event “Young Architectural Research in Graz” and will be held in both the winter and summer semesters at the Haus der Architektur Graz (HDA). In a workshop atmosphere, the current PhD work at the faculty is to be discussed in a seminar-like setting in an event open to the public.

The purpose of the seminar is to support dissertation candidates in the communication and presentation of their research work. Attendance is compulsory. After attending the course, the doctoral candidates will have gained useful insight into the current discourse in architectural research as well as knowledge regarding the preparation and delivery of scientific presentations.
