Workshop 2
PIXEL, POINT, PRINT
Workshop 2 SS will be deeply focused on the design strategies for fabrication and assembling processes along with the exploration of material performances and aesthetical features. In order to fully employ creativity and integration [fabrication: assembling: structure: material: aesthetics] processes, explorations and experiments will be developed on a given shape design.
The aim of the workshop is to integrate architecture with fabrication, assembling, structure, material and aesthetical features that will be explained and explored over the five days of the workshop through extensive digital and physical investigations. These investigations will result on the design, installation and exhibition of a 4 to 7 meters long piece (width will depend on the design) supported by a particular technique, designed by yourselves, that allows the object to showcase the material performance along with the aesthetical and structural characteristics. The agenda of the workshop is focused on architectural design through components, which should structure and seek for the performance and equilibrium of a resultant form by populating, growing or creating evolutionary systems rather than designing a building shape on the first place and then post-rationalize it. The current approach represents a change in the way we think, we live and we design architectural objects.
