The BASIC RESEARCH exhibition on the upper floor of the MUWA presents a selection of experiments and works made of clay, mycelium and alginate by researchers from the ShapeLab research group of the Institute of Architecture and Media, which were carried out from 2020 to 2024 under the direction of Assoc. Prof. MILENA STAVRIC. As an integral part of the Collaborative Research Center project “Advanced Computational Design”, funded by the FWF (2020-2028), the focus of research at the IAM is on how tools and processes of digital fabrication as well as new sustainable materials can be advanced through inter- and transdisciplinary basic research.
